From crib to toddler bed

Before you know it, your little one will be ready for the next step: a toddler bed. It may be that the crib has become too small. Many parents also choose to switch from a crib to a toddler bed when their child climbs out of the crib on its own. This is simply too dangerous and therefore time for a new bed.
What is a toddler bed
A toddler bed is also called a junior bed . It is a nice transition between the crib and a single bed. A single bed is often too big and does not provide the safe, secure feeling of a toddler bed. This security is most similar to the crib and makes it easier for your child to get used to the new bed. In addition, a toddler bed offers some extra protection against falling out of bed because it has higher sides. A toddler bed is also lower than a single bed, so your child can easily get in and out of it independently.

When can you switch to a toddler bed?
The average age at which children transition to a toddler bed is 2.5 years. But of course there are also children who are ready for this earlier. For example, if you notice that your child no longer feels comfortable behind the bars of the crib, or if he or she climbs out of bed a lot.
A toddler bed is therefore a nice intermediate step and can be used up to the age of 6 to 8 years. This is of course an average and depends on the height of your child.
How do you approach the transition from crib to toddler bed?
A new bed is a big step for your child. Then involve him or her. Choose a nice bed and nice bedding together. When the bed arrives, unpack the box together in his or her own room and of course it is also very fun to assemble and make the bed together! For some children it can help to read books together in advance about the transition to a larger bed.
In addition, it is important to maintain the regular bed ritual: so read a book together as always (now even more fun, because you can sit on the bed!), sing the same song and/or do the things that suit you. evening ritual. Of course, there is a good chance that your child would like to try out the option of getting out of bed on their own on the first evening(s). Stay consistent and positive and everything will be fine!
