Sustainability & Craftmanship
Each COKOS piece of furniture is completely handmade and is a unique work of art in itself.
Shaping the material requires the utmost precision and pure craftsmanship. Traditional tools help shape this natural material. But no tool can replace the experience of the craftsman or woman.
Because they grow so quickly, rattan palms are categorized as one of the most sustainable materials in the manufacturing of furniture. This fast-growing plant can be harvested every 5 to 7 years, eliminating the need to artificially accelerate the harvest.
In addition the the many advantages that make rattan so popular in making furniture, the natural material is also a sustainable alternative to cutting down trees. The rattan palm only thrives in intact rainforests with enough trees to support this climbing plant. This means that rattan cultivation is directly related tot he preservation of the ecosystem and the protection of native rain forests.
Crafted by hand
Rattan products are not only very beautiful, but also very sustainable. Rattan is even called the sustainable substitute for wood and because every product is made by hand, it is not produced by machine.
